Publication Ethics

The Proceedings of the International Conference on Economics, Management, and Accounting (ICEMA) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. As a peer-reviewed international proceeding organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, ICEMA adheres to ethical principles that promote the quality, originality, transparency, and integrity of all scholarly works published in the proceedings.

All authors, reviewers, editors, committee members, and other parties involved in the publication process are expected to uphold the principles of academic honesty, fairness, confidentiality, accountability, and respect for intellectual property. ICEMA applies a rigorous peer-review process to ensure that submitted manuscripts meet appropriate academic and ethical standards.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to ICEMA are expected to:

• Ensure that the submitted manuscript is original and has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another publication.
• Ensure that all information, data, findings, and references presented in the manuscript are accurate, reliable, and properly documented.
• Properly acknowledge the contributions and intellectual sources of other researchers through appropriate citations and references.
• Avoid plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, data manipulation, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct.
• Ensure that all individuals listed as authors have made substantial contributions to the research and manuscript.
• Obtain appropriate permission for the use of copyrighted materials whenever necessary.
• Disclose any financial, personal, institutional, or other conflicts of interest that may influence the research or publication process.
• Take responsibility for the content, accuracy, and academic integrity of the submitted manuscript.
• Comply with all submission, revision, peer-review, and publication requirements established by ICEMA.

ICEMA strictly prohibits plagiarism and self-plagiarism and expects all authors to contribute original and academically sound scholarly work.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the academic quality and integrity of the ICEMA Proceedings. Reviewers are expected to:

• Conduct manuscript evaluations objectively, fairly, and professionally.
• Evaluate manuscripts based on originality, relevance, methodological quality, academic contribution, clarity, and scientific significance.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all information contained in submitted manuscripts.
• Not use unpublished information obtained during the peer-review process for personal, professional, or academic advantage.
• Identify relevant published works that have not been appropriately cited by the authors, where applicable.
• Inform the editorial team of any potential conflict of interest that may affect their objectivity or independence.
• Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or promptly notify the editorial team if they are unable to complete the review.
• Provide constructive, clear, and evidence-based comments to assist authors in improving the quality of their manuscripts.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

The editorial team of ICEMA is responsible for maintaining the quality, integrity, and transparency of the proceedings. Editors are expected to:

• Evaluate submitted manuscripts objectively based on academic quality, relevance, originality, and methodological rigor.
• Ensure that submitted manuscripts undergo an appropriate and fair peer-review process.
• Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
• Ensure that editorial decisions are not influenced by the author's gender, ethnicity, religion, institutional affiliation, nationality, political views, or other personal characteristics.
• Identify, disclose, and appropriately manage potential conflicts of interest.
• Take appropriate action when ethical concerns, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of academic misconduct are identified.
• Publish corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, or retractions when necessary to maintain the integrity of the academic record.
• Ensure that the publication process is conducted fairly, transparently, consistently, and professionally.

4. Peer Review Process

ICEMA applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process, where applicable.

Submitted manuscripts are evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Originality and contribution to knowledge;
• Relevance to the scope of ICEMA;
• Appropriateness and rigor of the research methodology;
• Strength of the theoretical and conceptual foundation;
• Quality and accuracy of data analysis;
• Clarity and organization of presentation;
• Quality and relevance of references; and
• Academic and practical implications of the research findings.

Based on the results of the peer-review process, the possible editorial decisions include acceptance, acceptance subject to revision, or rejection. The final decision is made by the editorial team based on the reviewers' recommendations and the overall academic quality of the manuscript.

5. Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct

ICEMA considers plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, manipulation of research findings, and other forms of academic misconduct to be serious violations of publication ethics.

Submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism or similarity before or during the peer-review and publication processes. Manuscripts found to contain substantial plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct may be rejected or removed from the publication process.

If academic misconduct is identified after publication, ICEMA may take appropriate corrective action, including the publication of a correction, clarification, withdrawal, or retraction of the affected paper.

6. Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers, editors, and committee members must disclose any financial, personal, professional, institutional, or other relationships that could influence their judgment or create an actual or perceived conflict of interest.

Where a significant conflict of interest is identified, the editorial team may assign the manuscript to an alternative reviewer or editor to ensure an objective and impartial evaluation.

7. Research Integrity

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research has been conducted in accordance with applicable academic, professional, and ethical standards.

Where research involves human participants, personal data, confidential information, or other ethically sensitive materials, authors should obtain appropriate ethical approval or authorization when required by applicable regulations or institutional policies.

Authors must accurately and transparently report their research methods, data, findings, limitations, sources of funding, and other relevant information.

8. Corrections and Retractions

ICEMA is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of its published academic record.

If significant errors are identified after publication, the editorial team may publish an appropriate correction or clarification. In cases involving serious ethical violations, unreliable findings, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other substantial problems, ICEMA may withdraw or retract the affected paper.

All corrective actions will be handled transparently and in accordance with accepted principles of academic and scholarly publishing.

9. Copyright and Intellectual Property

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality and intellectual integrity of their submitted work. Authors must ensure that their manuscripts do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of other individuals, institutions, or organizations.

All third-party materials used in a manuscript must be appropriately cited and, where required, used with the necessary permission from the copyright holder.

By submitting a manuscript to ICEMA, authors acknowledge their responsibility to comply with the publication, copyright, and intellectual property policies established by the ICEMA Proceedings.

10. Ethical Responsibility and Academic Integrity

ICEMA recognizes that publication ethics is a shared responsibility among authors, reviewers, editors, organizers, and all other stakeholders involved in the scholarly publication process.

All parties are expected to uphold the principles of honesty, transparency, fairness, confidentiality, accountability, originality, and respect for intellectual property.

Any suspected violation of publication ethics should be reported to the ICEMA Secretariat or Editorial Team. All reported concerns will be reviewed and investigated appropriately, with due consideration given to confidentiality, fairness, and the rights of all parties involved.
