The Influence of Competence and Work Discipline on Employee Performance at PT Kaisar Putra Perkasa
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of competence and work discipline on employee performance at PT Kaisar Putra Perkasa, both partially and simultaneously. The study uses an associative quantitative approach with deductive thinking. The population is 53 people, with all members of the population being sampled (saturated sampling). Primary data were collected through a closed questionnaire with a Likert scale of 1–5 that measures three variables: Competence (X₁), Work Discipline (X₂), and Employee Performance (Y). Data analysis includes validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests (Kolmogorov – Smirnov normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity), multiple linear regression analysis, and the delta coefficient of determination test (ΔR²) using SPSS 22. The results of the study show: (1) competence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance with β = 0.312 (p = 0.011) and a contribution of ΔR ² = 0.098 (9.8%); (2) work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee performance with β=0.287 (p=0.019) and a contribution of ΔR²=0.081 (8.1%); (3) simultaneously, competence and work discipline have a positive and significant effect on employee performance with a total contribution of ΔR²=0.179 (17.9%). Competence has a more dominant contribution (9.8%) than work discipline (8.1%), but both are equally important. This research contributes to the leadership of PT Kaisar Putra Perkasa in formulating strategies to improve employee performance based on competency development and discipline enforcement, as well as being an academic reference in the field of Human Resource Management in the project equipment supply sector.
