Abstract

Job design plays an important role in shaping how employees perform their tasks and may influence the quality of work delivered in public organizations. However, the relationship between job design and the quality of work among government employees in local public service institutions requires further empirical examination. This study aimed to examine the influence of job design on the work quality of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) employees at the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency in Pangkajene and Islands Regency, Indonesia. The study employed a descriptive quantitative research design. Primary data were collected through questionnaires administered to 72 ASN employees at the agency. The data were analyzed using research instrument testing, inferential statistical analysis, simple linear regression analysis, and the t-test. The findings demonstrated that job design had a positive and statistically significant influence on the work quality of ASN employees. This result indicates that improvements in job design are associated with better work quality among employees in the public service institution. The study contributes empirical evidence on the importance of job design in supporting employee work quality within local government organizations. Practically, the findings suggest that public institutions should strengthen job design practices by ensuring appropriate task structures, responsibilities, and work arrangements to support higher-quality employee performance and service delivery.
